Xenophobia in SOUTH AFRICA - Dangerous in the air

However of the strong and powerful economy, the inequalities, the AIDS and the strong unemployment affect this African Giant. South Africa was a bomb that finally exploded. The problems of the biggest economy in the Black Africa, at least in appearance hasn’t end with break of the apartheid in 1994. With arrived of democracy, the Country already converted in attractive place for its poor neighbors, specially to the ruined Zimbabwe, also for Nigeria and Mozambique both pressured with civil conflicts already lasting decades.

With the time the image of prosperity has been transformed in reflection and it doesn’t take in consideration the enormous social unbalance that still existing between black and white, the brutal unemployment rate of 30%and the second major rate of people infected with AIDS (one in each seven), a tragedy that provokes to 50 years the hope of life.

Calculate that last 5 years, 3 millions of Zimbabweans came across the boarders to South African, increased for the strong inflation (today 160.000%), created by the economic politics of the dictator Robert Mugabe. In total, the number of foreigners that we believe live in South Africa reach 5 millions of a total of 49, about 10%.

The crisis in Zimbabwe, with unemployment of 80% has been the drop that was missing, however the situation become unstable with confrontation between the government and the opposition, the sample has happened in Kenya last December.

Since March the government of the octogenarian dictator has been more menaced by the opposition, that wined the 1st turn of the Presidential Elections include the Legislative. The 2nd turn was in June 27th and even with mobilization of the whole International Organizations, manifest of the population and politician, Robert Mugabe, 84, the only candidate was re-elected keeping in this way the government.

Meanwhile, the violence appears not stop, the last of week the xenophobic attacks the balance is 42 deaths and more then 20,000 misplaced and the generalized terror feeling installed in a country that has suffered about violent racism.

The Government is conscious of the possibility that this violence grows all over the country they have decided to send the Army to the suburbs of Johannesburg to finalize the conflicts second the witness groups are looking on the streets for immigrates. They accuse those to provoke unemployment and feed the delinquency. This image no happened since the tyranny of the racist regime.

The situation is really unbelievable and I agree with you that the resolution will not come from the Politic Ground, they try to use Democracy as excuse. In this moment, people that were make campaign against Mugabe have get their farms and houses attacked the occupants spanked by Mugabe's sympathizers.

I am in Europe and I am Brazilian and right now I try to develop a campaign against xenophobia to inform the population affected to open their eyes and not be manipulated by small groups that willing to provoke violence. For the other side, the existing problems in South Africa aren't caused by this Immigration's wave those are result of the Country's economy growth and the bad administration of the resources. There are enough resources, the politics of the ground occupation need to be review and fast. Create instability on the Country will not help get the South Africans out of their own problems.

Copy update Zimbabwe situation. This explains indeed the influx of Zimbabweans to South Africa. 80% unemployment is simply too much. During Hitler's time it was 60%, so the Nazi's were brought to power on the promise of employment which they delivered (at the expense of millions of lives). I'll share my notes on the matter later (separate article).

The times with the global credit crunch are difficult, of course, for ALL. That said, I think what I am profiling should be very easy to raise funds for because it ticks so many boxes. I would like to give creative solutions and generate ways not only to help on short terms I've chosen a project called Fashion Against Xenophobia. Of course, the exact focus of the different projects within - e.g., the Fashion element - will need to be highlighted to bring communities together in terms of the over-exposed concern.
If you or someone here could be interested to orient me about founds raising or participate on development please let me know...
