A Costly Thirst (for water)

An article in the Financial Times this week brings up some important points about one of the most essential of all natural resources: water. Statistics in the article confirm that it is generally the world's poorest who pay most for water, and with an estimated 5,000 children dying every day from water-related diseases, it is clearly an issue that needs immediate attention. And while better health is a key reason to improve access to safe water, the potential benefits don't end there. According… Continue

My apologies Marcus.... I must have just missed the correct page. I see it now. Thanks much.

Will again follow up with discussion on developing off-shore cays if Bruce doesn't continue posting all of those comments.

Thanks,
Susan

Marcus,

Thanks for your note. The odd thing is that my profile on Development Crossing isn't visible anymore... despite my being able to access as a member. That seems strange... Could you explain or correct? Will follow your suggestion about starting my own "blog" if comments aren't posted on Bruce's. I gather that Bruce fervently opposes the develpment on Thatch Cay, and I can't really comment (agree or disagree) with that, due to my involvement with the project. The fact is though, development on these cays is happening. And for those of us asked to get involved, we have the choice of trying to help guide them in responsible ways, or staying on the side lines lamenting their failings (when often that happens). I figure as an engineer, it's my job to do the former. I'm often a "squeaky wheel", and hence often not asked to participate in such projects, because I've long been at a point in my career where I made choices about what and what not to do for a living. "Right livelihood" is a part of what I consider our human responsibility.

Regards,
Susan

Thank you... Yes, it is...it seems, too, I've been living on caffeine for the last few days in preparing for it... ;) The press release goes out later this morning here in the United States...I'll be posting something here, as well as on the MySpace page, etc., when I feel a bit more human and have perhaps caught a few hours of sleep in the interim. ;)
