Corruption in India

Ever heard of corruption in development activities. It is happening in India. Sethu project is the world's largest canal digging. It invoives huge amount of money. When the ruling party brings in the propoal the oppositon objects. When the opposition parties get into the ruling, t;he previous ruling party objects. You are so right about corruption in development! I have seen it much here in Costa Rica, but even in the United States on all levels of government. In the States the corruption is usually more subtle, but it is everywhere. The people who need the projects most are the only ones suffering. During our last election in Costa Rica, the people were so fed up with obvious corruption that three previous presidents and many other government officials were jailed and a strong new political party for change gained enough seats in the Assembly to make big changes in the way things are being handled. Costa Ricans have been very accepting and passive for so many years that certain politicians assumed it would always be that way. The last election was full of huge public demonstrations, strikes, etc. and I think that's what it takes to wake up those who have too much! I will put some photos on line as soon as I can find time to assemble them.
