School of Community and Regional Planning/University of British Columbia
What would you most like to get out of this network, for example in terms of learning or support?
I am developing a set of socially responsible investment guidelines for the management of UBC's Endowment
What is your current job and/or what field are you studying?
Master's Degree in Planning
What knowledge, skills and experience do you have that you would be happy for people to contact you over?
HIV Prevention, Community Development, Determinants of Health, Corporate Social Responsibility and Socially Responsible Investment
What else would you like to say about yourself?
I obtained a degree in international trade during my undergraduate studies. Then I migrated to Canada and worked in social services. I understand that we need to combine social with economic concerns. Our biggest challenge, is in my opinion, developing economies and societies that address limits to growth set out by the ecosphere.
I believe that SRI can be used as a tool to influence corporate and individual behaviour to promote sustainability.

Well, Amigo, I do have some notes to share to you about organic farming and biodiversity. I handled clients before as consultant whom my team counseled on both organics & biodiversity. There were some though, individual small planters, who were glued to mono-crop, though openly shifted to organics. I would recommend your team explore the 'biodynamic farming' of the Rudolf Steiner-related groups, they have formulas that can hasten the fermentation of biomass (e.g. leaves, cut up twigs and wastes) into fertilizers. I'm sure Mexico manufactures local machines that can churn out excess tree twigs and branches into small pellets or even smaller that can easily rot to fertizer. A small planter, however, may not be able to afford such a machine, so grouping them into an association and then assigning the machine to the association will be an arrangement. So these are some options that organics can go. .
Hi Omar! Great to have you in our network. Please join my circle of friends. You may also find my blog articles interesting for review. May you continue to succeed in your missions.
Hi Omar, I like your limits to growth comment but I work in SRI as a researcher, advocate, asset manager, and I'm not convinced SRI as currently practiced will address that fundamental problem.
